The phrase "the eyes are the windows to the soul" is a common idiom that suggests a person's eyes can reveal their true feelings, emotions, and personality. It implies that the eyes are a gateway to one's inner self, and that genuine emotions can be seen in them, even if a person tries to hide them. This idea is reflected in how people interpret eye contact and expressions. For example, widened eyes can indicate surprise or fear, while squinting can suggest anger or suspicion. Similarly, a genuine smile often involves crinkling around the eyes, which is difficult to fake. The phrase has its roots in ancient Roman times from a very similar phrase from the Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero, who said ‘The face is a picture of the mind as the eyes are its interpreter.’ It describes how analysis of someone’s eyes is a window to their mind and what they might be thinking. The precise phrase ‘the eyes are the windows to the soul’ is most frequently attributed to the most famous English wordsmith, William Shakespeare in the 1500s and 1600s. The full quote is as follows:“The eyes are the window to your soul, or was it just an illusion, his version of what was, is or could be, conception of a thought brought into reality by the wandering of the ever-restless mind of William.”
I’m so fair , I burn like a lobster when I’m in Turkey. Many occasions have I ended the day with pink skin and white panda eyes !! This is a running joke because really this is how I tan , of course the third degree burns will eventually turn into somewhat of a tanned glow !! Needing the factor 100 😱😱😱
Drove past this park sometime last year. From then I always wanted to find it again . I stayed in a different part of Konyaalti and on a recent walk just to buy some last minute groceries , I spied it , through a gap in the street . I was over the moon . Something so cultural and different amongst the streets of Türkiye. Its history and why it is there I do not know . But as design , culture and beauty it is significant, capturing and beautiful . A favourite place of mine .
