https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/july-4th“The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. The Fourth of July 2021 is on Sunday, July 4, 2021; the federal holiday will be observed on Monday, July 5, 2021.”
The hydrangea I planted is doing well! Next year, it should have more branches and leaves. It will probably bloom in two seasons. The peonies have almost fully bloomed, I will cut the big ones and put them in a vase. The blooms are heavy, so they hang low. The clematis (and Goku) are healthy in their new spot! And one of my rose bushes is growing steadily. The other one may not make it 🙁

It’s autumn in Ohio, and the corn is now out of season. Lots of people take the harvester corn stalks and use them to decorate for the holidays. I don’t know why. I’ve never done this before, but I’m sure there’s a whole bunch of gross things hiding in the back of my car now. At least I have pumpkins. RIP me 🎃 🌾 🕷🤷♀️

I said I wouldn’t block him, I did not say I wouldn’t make an example of him. I admit to knowing exactly where this was going as soon as he said that he thought he knew me from somewhere. Oddly, this is not the grossest thing to come into my DMs. Do better in your life. Have some respect. Don’t be this guy. This can’t even possibly be classified as flirting.
It has been a while since I have posted anything actually related to learning English. To anyone who has followed me because of those posts - I’m sorry!Today, I’ll give you a different way to describe hot weather, or humid weather. These sayings can vary, depending on where you are in the US. For example, I live in northern Ohio. Today, the weather is warm but a little humid. Earlier, the sky was very cloudy and there was no breeze - but it was still humid. It felt like it had just rained, or might rain soon. We call that “muggy”. A: Hey, what’s the weather like outside?B: it’s pretty muggy today, so you might want to wear shorts and take an umbrella.
My daughter made Пáска (paska) yesterday. It’s a traditional Ukrainian Easter bread that my mother’s family used to make. It was her first time baking a yeast bread, and she didn’t want my help. The dough didn’t rise properly, but she made a beautiful loaf of hard bread (it’s too dense to eat). 😅 Orthodox Easter is April 19th, so next Sunday, I’ll help her make a new one.
