Dara Thong & Thong Ek Today I made 2 from 9 auspicious traditional Thai desserts since Ayuthaya era which they are hardly to find in Thailand because it’s required considerable time and delicacy in the cooking process. The 9 auspicious traditional Thai desserts are offered at special events like weddings, housewarming and career promotions. They symbolize wealth, prosperity, and being the best, making it a popular gift for auspicious ceremonies and to wish someone success in their career.Dara Thong, meaning golden star. For Thai people, Dara Thong is often mistakenly referred to as “Ja Mongkut” which is another Thai dessert. And Thong Ek, meaning the best gold the first gold.Only the petals of Dara Thong, I took 2 hours for preparation. On the top of each piece, we decorated with a piece of gold leaf.

This week I cooked Mung bean cake and Snow Skin Mooncake. Normally you can find mung bean cake in a circle shape. Instead, this time I transformed it to cute bird shape. I used the same filling of sweet mung bean but different flour to generate different texture of the other cake part. The cake’s texture of the snow skin mooncake is softer like mochi.

Cafe Claire, Bangkok Yesterday I went to the cafe for Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea set. The table should be reserved at least 1 day before your arrival.This theme is available until 31 Aug. The location is in the central of Bkk, near United States embassy, Dutch embassy, Vietnam embassy and Japan embassy on Witthayu road. The vibe is great. A lot of trees around here. I think the sweets are a bit sweet for me.But I haven’t tried any meal yet. If you come, please invite me 😆

Today, surprisingly, I received a fruit basket by someone I have not met before. I never seen her face. We never met each other. We only messaged and called. Back into Y.2024, she interested in a manager position in my previous company that I worked for. As we are in the same field of work, I gave her my opinion which is kinda straightforward but helpful. I also encouraged her during she was finding a new job. I did with expect nothing in return.Several months ago she contacted me back. She updated that she got a new role of a director for a pharmaceutical company.

Blendsook Good taste-great vibe-nice service restaurant I took my mom to Blendsook restaurant in Chiang Rai for mother’s day. We went there at 11.30 a.m. but all tables were fully reserved; thus, we needed to wait a bit.Blend is English word and “Sook” means “happiness”in Thai.Blendsook restaurant is specializing in Northern Thai cuisine with global fusion menu. The restaurant could incorporate these characteristics into dishes that also draw inspiration from other parts of the world, creating unique and interesting fusion experiences and still retaining the scent of northern Thai food. The menu we ordered are - Gaeng Kiew Wan curry (Thai green curry) in Japanese curry style - Fried rice pineapple with prawns - Pizza caviar with Gang Som paste (Thai Hot & Sour soup)- Timbering with scramble eggs and bacons- Carrot cake, Blue berry cheesecake and dark chocolate cake

Riding an Elephant and AVTThis weekend, I spent my trip at the Long Neck Karen village in Chiang rai. The location is surrounding by natural scenery near Kok river. At the village, there are some activities that you can enjoy which can make you feel closer to the simple life of Karen culture, and beautiful natural. I arrived there at 9 a.m. I have given a big bucket of sugar canes and riden an elephant. Actually, you can choose between 2 routes for your elephant trip: 1. Go up on the hill through the forest or 2. Walk through Karen town The cute 24 years-old-male elephant’s name is Petch (the meaning in Thai is diamond). I loved when he enjoy eating fruits and plants along the way he walked. After riding elephant, I took an adventurous AVT trip on the mud road. There were local staffs whom took care our safety along the way and helped us taking some nice memorable photos. We rode the AVT to the hill through Karen farms and jungle. Our target of destination is a Karen village that you can enjoy Karen traditional dress and hand made souvenirs. I was surprised that the neck’s ring is so heavy. The necklace was made by brass

Today I made a Thai dessert called“Ar-Lua or A-Lua”. Ar-Lua is a traditional Thai dessert made with flour, coconut milk and sugar. It was inspired by Portuguese dessert since Ayuthaya era. The name of it associates with English “Allure” which means dessert’s charming and attractive. In this formula, I added milk to make the texture soften and be filled in the cute flowers molds. The texture is a bit crispy outside and soft inside with coconut milk flavour. I made this formula not too sweet. Then, smoked it with scented candles to give it a fragrant aroma at the end. Sorry for unclear the last picture. It seemed something stuck on my camera lol.

Goryokaku park, Hakodate, Hokkaido It’s an observation fortress that you can see a beautiful panoramic view. You can see the iconic that it is the star-shaped park and the scenery of Hakodate city. The fortress was built in the year 1855 -1866 to protect Hokkaido from enemies.Observation Ticket price is 1200 ¥There are souvenir shop and cafe on the 1st floor. And you MUST TRY melon-flavored Pocky. It seems only available in Hokkaido. I really love the taste. I really love the smell of melon. I still having it after lunch today.

Today I went to a local art gallery in my hometown, Chiang rai. Most art pieces are represented to my home, the north region of Thailand“Lanna”*.*Lanna, also known as Lannathai or the Kingdom of a Million Rice Fields, was an ancient Tai kingdom located in present-day Northern Thailand, flourishing from the 13th to 18th centuries.Next to the art gallery, there is the Coffee & Tea festival that collects famous coffee and tea shops and farms around the northern part of Thailand here. If you buy anything from 3 shops, you will get 1 free fabric bag. Of course, I got 2 😆

Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House, Bistro & Bar, Chiang Rai, Thailand The restaurant is near the river. You can sit indoor or outdoor to get closer to beautiful nature. There is another building available for a counter bar. They serve high fresh quality homemade foods, bakery and drinks. Today I worked from home here a half day. I ordered blueberry smoothie and Iced matcha-Soy milk with Chia seeds for my morning. My parents joined later for lunch. The menu we ordered are Vietnamese grilled pork salad, Chiangrai fried rice (the crispy pork dipping with Nam-Prik-Noom is so good) and Grilled sea bass salad (fruits in this bowl are really fresh. It contains mangoes, oranges, kiwi, green and red apples)Sweets, I tried carrot cake and banoffee. And I love both of them.

Shinla Korean BBQ Restaurant @True digital 101, BTS Punnawithi, BKKGrilled pork neck is soft and tasty. But the most I like are very simple side dish — Little Kimbab, fried tofu and egg roll.

Ningle Terrace, Furano, HokkaidoA dream-like small village of log houses around by pine trees and waterfalls. Those houses available for handcrafted gifts, created by Furano artisans for you to shop. I recommend you stay there until night. It is the most beautiful moment like you were lost in a fairy tale town.

Today I gave the sweets I made yesterday to my colleagues. Surprisingly, they love it. They thought I bought it.I still haven’t told anyone until now. I’m not sure if I tell them, perhaps tasty level reduce 50%.

Today I cooked 2 old Thai traditional sweets. Do anyone have tried some? Do you know what are they? Hint: The 1st green balls made by pandan rice cake with sweet coconut filling. The topping is young soft coconut. The 2nd on banana leaf cup is made by banana, coconut and coconut milk

Noboribetsu, Hokkaido This national park has natural hot springs. In volcanic crater Jigokudani (Hell Valley). This town is famous for onsen. Free entrance. But you need to get there only by car or bus. There is parking fee. As I remembered around 500 ¥.

Try on Japanese traditional kimono in Sapporo. It was my 2nd time on a very beautiful kimono in Japan. My first time since 2017 at Asakusa, Tokyo. I didn’t prepare for nice photo shot. So, this time I haven’t missed it. Of course, I hired a photographer with the highest package of quality of kimono. 👘 And i feel satisfied with it.

LeTao - Otaru, HokkaidoThe most popular Cheesecake shop in Japan. The main shop is in Otaru. I went there for having some seasonal special menu which is not available for taking home. You only need to sit and eat at the shop. The shop is open at 9 am. If you hate waiting for long queue, please go there and wait before open time 30 min.Here are menu I got: - Amazing cheesecake set with The sound of Carillon tea (it’s the main shop limited tea)- Fluffy and moist Mont Blanc. You can choose chestnut or strawberry flavor. I picked the strawberry- 甘夏みかんのフロマージュショート (orange cake) I also had tasted a LeTao danish in another shop where it is located just near the main shop.
