The character yu means lush vegitation and also depression. Although these two definitions seem far apart, there is a connection. According to Chinese Medicine, depression can arise when the Wood phase is in excess.Wood symbolizes everything that grows out of earth. So lush vegitation is a state of excess Wood, which also can be the cause of depression.The upper part of the symbol paint two trees and a man between then, pointing to a condition where the man is in an area of excess trees.The lower part, 鬯 (chàng) ， means ancient sacrificial wine. I don't understand what what is the contributions of this part to the general meaning of the character?"‘鬱’这个字既表示茂密的植被，也表示抑郁。虽然这两个定义看起来相距甚远，但实际上是有联系的。根据中医理论，抑郁可以在木相过盛时产生。木象征着从地面生长出来的一切。因此，茂密的植被是一种木过盛的状态，这也可能是抑郁的原因。字的上部分描绘了两棵树和一个人站在树中间，指的是人在树木过多的环境中所处的状态。下部分‘鬯’（chàng）指的是古代祭祀用的酒。我不明白这部分对整个字义的贡献是什么呢？"
