์ค๋๋ง์ด์์~~Last month, my best friend and I spent an unforgettable week at a ski resort. We stopped by her childhood village and stayed the night at her family home, with her brother and his girlfriend joining us. We all stayed in a cozy cottage, spent the day grocery shopping, and explored the ridge where the skiing took place. Behind the ridge, we found a beautiful forest trail and a frozen pond where we made snow angels.Wednesday was my big dayโI went skiing for the first time! I panicked and fell about ten times (my upper arm still aches, but itโs fine). Despite the falls, I learned how to ski, which was a big achievement since I only knew cross-country skiing before. The landscapes were breathtaking. One of the best parts of the trip was the spa day my friend and I had. After a relaxing sauna in the cottage, we treated each other to face masks.I cooked a few times, and on other days, we all cooked together. It was the best week of 2025โfun, relaxing, and full of memories with my friend. One day, we wanted to use a small shelter behind the cottage to grill food, but it was already occupied. So, we set out for another shelter that was supposed to be one kilometer away but turned out to be five. We crossed a frozen lake, which cracked beneath us, but her brother calmly led the way, assuring us heโd fall first if anything happened. We kept going, trekking through knee-deep snow in the forest, falling every few steps, but we were having fun.By the time we reached the shelter, it was 7 p.m. and we were exhausted, but we spent two hours there. Starting the fire was tricky with frozen logs, but my friendโs brother and his girlfriend, who had military experience, helped us get it going. For the trip back, we found a road instead of crossing the forest again, making it much easier. We returned to the cottage tired, hungry, and only had sausages to eat, but the adventure was worth it.Might post more of the trip later!
Happy Valentineโs Day! Even though itโs been over for me for a few hours now, I still want to send out some love.In Finland, we call Valentineโs Day "ystรคvรคnpรคivรค," which translates to "Friendโs Day." Itโs not just about romance but also about appreciating the people in our lives like friends, family, and loved ones. Of course, couples celebrate too, but thereโs no pressure to have a partner, which I think makes the day feel extra warm and inclusive.I spent today with my friends, and we had the most amazing cake that my friend bakedโit was so good! She came over with her partner, whom we met for the first time, and later, he headed out, which kind of sums up the vibe of Valentineโs Day here: time for partners, but also for friends. As a little thank-you to the friend who hosted, I brought her a tiny bouquet in the cutest pot!! Such a small thing, but it made me so happy to give.Hope everyone had a day filled with love in all its forms!xoxo + a lip heart (because why not? lol)
์ค๋๋ง์ด์์~I wanted to share one of my favorite hobbies today, and maybe a few more, haha. I really enjoy reading, but itโs even better when Iโm in a cozy and comfortable environment. Thanks to my momโs love for flowers, there are always some on the coffee table, and just a simple candle makes the space feel so much warmer. All I need after that is a cup of green tea, a soft blanket, and of course, my classical music playlist on Spotify. That playlist is public, so Iโd love for you all to check it out and add it! Itโs perfect for studying, reading, and even daydreaming. I also have plenty of other playlists if youโre interested! (You can find the playlist title and my account in the 8th picture ^^)I also really love the quote in the 7th picture and was curious to see how it would sound in Korean. I tried looking for a Korean translation of this book but couldnโt find one, so I asked ChatGPT to translate it for me. Hereโs what it came up with:"์ด ์ด์ผ๊ธฐ์ ๊ตํ์ ๋ค์๊ณผ ๊ฐ๋ค:๋ฌด๊ธฐ๊ฐ ์์ด ๋น์ ๊ณผ ๋ง์๋ ์๋ฅผ ์กฐ์ฌํ๋ผ.๊ทธ์ ๋์ ๋น์ ์ด ๋ชฉํ๋ฌผ์ด ์๋๋ผ๋ฉด,๋น์ ์ด ๋ฌด๊ธฐ์์ ํ์ ํด๋ ์ข๋ค."For any native Korean speakersโhow does this translation sound to you? Does it feel natural? Also, what are some of your favorite books? Iโd love to hear your recommendations, especially if you have any favorite Korean authors! ๐ฅน
์ํด ๋ณต ๋ง์ด ๋ฐ์ผ์ธ์!Hope everyone had an amazing New Yearโs! I spent mine with family and relatives like usual, and later on, my cousins, sisters, and I went to the centre of Turku to catch the fireworks. There were so many people gathered for the countdown, and the fireworks were incredible!! It was such a fun way to end the night!Hereโs to 2025, being a softer, kinder, and sweeter year for all of us. Letโs stay happy and healthy!//01.01.2025//06.02// Ps. The five fingers up are supposed to represent 2025... I tried, idk how to make a 2025 pose loool
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! ๐Yesterday, my little sister unwrapped the Crime Scene game as a Christmas gift, so naturally, my siblings, cousins, and I decided to dive in and play together. But as the night grew later (as Christmas Eve tends to do here), we had to hit pause and agree to continue the fun later today!Oh, and for those wondering... Yes, we open gifts on the 24th here in Finland!โ๏ธEnjoy this holiday season!
Iโm sitting at the table with a warm cup of Glรถgi, enjoying the cosy atmosphere of our yearly tradition. Every year, my friends and I get together for a Glรถgi tastingโa fun ritual where we rate each bottle by flavour, the look of the bottle, and price. After weโve tasted them all, we pick a winner and decide which Glรถgi feels the most like Christmas.Right now, there are nine empty bottles lined up, and three more to go. The room is full of laughter and friendly debates as we tally up scores and share stories from past years. True to our groupโs style, we couldnโt resist a bit of nostalgiaโwe ended up singing a Christmas song we used to perform at concerts back in middle and high school. Itโs been years since we last sang together, so we sounded a bit rough, but it didnโt matter. It was just fun to reminisce.Iโll update you later on which Glรถgi won, but for now, weโre just soaking up the festive vibes and enjoying the moment.//15.54.2024//23.54//
ใใใฐใใฏ!Today, I made Japanese curry with prawns and rice for dinner along with two side dishes. One was okra and carrots sautรฉed in a pan, and the other was a cucumber and avocado salad. I wanted everything to be ready before Mum got home from work, so I started a bit earlier than usual. It turned out really good! The curry was just the right balance of savoury and a little sweet, and the side dishes added a nice variety to the meal. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, which made me happy. It feels nice to put effort into something and have it appreciated. I think that is one of my favourite things about cooking. I had the curry simply with rice and pickled daikon, and my mum had it with the side dishes! I tried the side dishes, though, and they complimented the flavours nicely. ^^Japanese word of the day:ใใใ ใใพใ - I humbly receive ๐Song recommendation of the day:Baby you by Yuka
์๋ ํ์ธ์~Today was craaazy. I went over to my friend's apartment to make Joulutorttu and hang out, but thatโs not the wild part. The apartment I visited wasnโt just any placeโit was her first apartment. The one where our friend group spent countless nights laughing, dreaming, and just being. After high school, she moved to another city with one of our mutual friends, and the apartment was lost to time. But now, itโs back!!!Somehow, she saw it listed for rent again, and since she was moving back to the city anyway, she managed to rent it. Walking into that space felt like stepping into a time capsule. She still had her old furniture, the same photos on the walls, and even the flowers that my friend and I gave her when she first rented the place. She had dried and saved them all these years. I tried to find the same flowers to give her this time, but I couldn't find any. I found a bouquet that included them, though. To add to the nostalgia, she taught me how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the violin agaim. Somehow, she said I have a natural way of holding it for someone who doesnโt play. In return, I helped her with the piano. For a moment, I felt like a teenager againโlike no time had passed at all.It was a day I wonโt forget.Korean words of the day:High school - ๊ณ ๋ฑํ๊ตFlower - ๊ฝTo feel nostalgic/ to feel homesick - ํฅ์๋ฅผ ๋๋ผ๋คSong recommendation of the day:Oli aikoi - Mikael Gabrial (It's a finnish song I used to listen to a lot in 2020)
I've been craving Buldaks carbonara for months! Haven't had it in so long, but I bought it yesterday again, FINALLY! Here is the beautiful process of today's masterpiece. I even made proper food and all for the others to eat, but TODAY I want THIS.Remember, kids eat ramen in moderation!
์๋ ํ์ธ์~The Christmas season is just around the corner, and you can already feel the spirit in Finland! My best friend and I visited a charming old-school cafรฉ in town, nestled inside a traditional wooden Finnish house. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. We shared a slice of carrot cake and had a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. It was so good!Afterwards, we took a walk through the city, soaking in the magical ambience. One of the highlights was visiting the annual Christmas windows display. Each year, theyโre designed with a unique theme and accompanied by a narrated story played over the speakers. Itโs such a lovely tradition that never fails to capture the holiday magic ๐๐โจ๏ธKorean words of the day:Carrot - ๋น๊ทผ ๐ฅHot chocolate - ํซ์ด์ฝ or ํซ์ด์ฝ๋ฆฟ ๐ซโ๏ธCold (temperature or weather) - ์ถ์ด โ๏ธChristmas - ํฌ๋ฆฌ์ค๋ง์ค ๐๐ ๐ปSong recommendation:When it snows (ํฐ ๋์ด ์ค๋ฉด) by 1415 It's one of my favourite songs to listen to during winter!
์๋ ํ์ธ์!!Winter is here, and I couldn't be more excited!Today was the first snowfall of the season, and itโs already blanketing everything in white. After braving a blizzard on my way back from a friendโs place, I made sure to shovel the walkway to our door as soon as I got home. The cold metal of the shovel turned my hands bright red (letโs not talk about the mystery of my missing gloves), and the snow was surprisingly heavy. Buuut, it turned into a pretty solid workout! Also the two pictures that have something written in snow say:Korean:์์ - Goodnight (informal, add ์ to the end for the polite version) AndJapanese:ใใใใฟ - Goodnight (also casual, ใใใใฟใชใใ would be more polite)Correct me if I'm wrong pleasee ^^
์๋ ํ์ธ์ I wanted to share little moments of my walk. Taking walks and listening to music is my therapy. BOO!! Happy late Halloween! Just a random Halloween picture dumb and a Halloween card I just made, hahaha ^^Today, two of my friends and I had a tiny Halloween gathering because we had nothing special prepared for Halloween, plus IT'S ALWAYS FUN TO DRESS UP. My friends were dressed up as two fairies, and I guess I was their magical deer, lol ๐ซ๐ญKorean word of the day:Deer = ์ฌ์ด ๐ฆPumpkin = ํธ๋ฐ ๐To be scared = ๋ฌด์์ํ๋ค (verb form)I'm scared, or it's scary = ๋ฌด์์์ (polite), ๋ฌด์์ (informal) ๐ฑ
Here's prt. 2!The last core memory would probably be when I finally found the song with the help of my big sister. Korea was starting to gain attention internationally with K-pop and dramas, so my big sister and I went on a search. Sheโd figured out that the English name of the drama was Sad Love Story for some time, but she said it was still very hard to find information about it on Google when she l was looking. But this time, Korea had gained popularity, and we searched again, and the show actually came up! However, finding the song took a little more digging since I didnโt know Korean. So, I got the Korean keyboard on my phone (it was the 10-key layout) and tried to desperately type random Korean lines I saw on Wikipedia into Spotifyโs and YouTubeโs search bars. I couldnโt figure out the keyboard, and I had no idea what I was even typing, hahaha ๐ญ Eventually, I found a video of the show on YouTube, and I went fishing for the song. At the time, I didnโt know what OST stood forโฆ so I didnโt even search using that word. It would have helped a lot, but thanks to all the trouble I went through, I learned what OST meant, and I found the song. In the end, I needed to learn hanguel so I could learn the song properly. And now I can sing it by heartโyayyy!Long story short, Iโm learning Korean because of one very old Korean song, and I would have never guessed that one melody that stayed close to me for so long would shape what I like and appreciate in life now. Life is pretty strange. Even one single song can make a huge difference.Fun fact: I still use the 10-key Korean keyboard because I find it easier and quicker than the QWERTY keyboard. Iโm so slow at typing when I try to use the QWERTY keyboard for Korean, lool.
์์์ฃผ์ธ์ ์ฌ๋ฌ๋ถ!! Kind of a long and weird two part post today. I want to meet those 66 monthly listeners on Spotify (picture below) and hear how long it took them to find this song or if they always knew where to find it. What's their life story, how old are they? This song will forever be carved into my soul and heart ๐ญ. I heard it for the duration of 20 episodes or so as a six- or seven-year-old kid who didnโt understand a word of Korean. Then I spent the rest of my life humming it, without knowing where I could hear it or how to find it. I didnโt have the name of the drama or the song.Iโve built a few core memories around this song that I hold close to me. One is of me and my big sister by the piano, trying to find the right keys to play the melody so we could hear it again once the show had long passed and we couldnโt hear it anywhere anymore.Another is from when I was in 5th grade. I was standing alone by the playground, just zoned out and humming the melody, and my housekeeping class teacher startled me, saying, โWhat is that melody? You look beautiful from the side profile singing it.โ I remember I just laughed and thanked her, feeling embarrassed, but I thought about it the whole day. Her compliment was so detailed and unexpected that Iโve always carried it with me.The last core memory would probably be when...Part two is in my second post, hehe.
์๋ !!I'm soooo excited! I just saw way more northen lights than I have ever before, since I live in south Finland and we don't see them properly that often.I saw a message from my big sister in the family group chat of how she saw northern lights outside with my cousin, and I literally ran out in my pyjamas to see for myself! They also saw a shooting star and then my little sister saw another one too! Unfortunately I missed that. In the south you barely see anything with your bare eyes, but I will show you what I caught with night vision and without.Song recommendatio: Saudade (When We Are Born) by รlafur ArnaldsKorean words of the day:๋ถ๊ทน๊ด - Northen lights ๐์์ /ํ๋ฐค์ค - Midnight ๐์ด๋์ด ํ๋์ - Dark blue ๐งฅ๋ณ - Star โญ๏ธ์ ์ฑ/ ๋ณ๋ฅ๋ณ - Shooting star ๐
