What has happend with this app recently? It used to be such a great platform to learn a language.I recently came back to HelloTalk as I used to teach English here almost everyday in 2020 and 2021.Today I joined a few voice rooms where the room name was "want to practice English" or "reading English". I joined and told them that I can help and want to join the stage but I was greeted with a message that says that "the moderator has kicked you out".Am I doing something wrong here?
(Third try) So today is my 7 year anniversary here in HelloTalk. When I first created my account in 2017, my mission was to practice Japanese with Japanese natives. I had quite the bad luck back then. Didn't find any who were willing to practice. But I am forever indepted to one person, Kenichiro, for sticking with me and being a great language partner. Coming into 2018 I learned about groups and joined group calls for the first time. Me being such a shy klutz, I used to only listen and never speak, but over time I was slowly getting more and more confident with my social skills. Laura, I'm forever grateful to you for letting your dorkiness rub off on me. 2019, had such a blast joining group calls. Having language games, reading together, teaching English, learning Spanish and just plain messing around with random people around the world was exhilarating. Scott and Jason, you two Americans are masters at bringing people into a community and both of you represent the meaning of fun. 2020, during the world pandemic I got to teach English to tens of thousands of people all over the globe in this app. Back then we didn't have voice rooms, We had groups and group calls, where more than 50 people used to come at the same to read with me and other teachers. One person in particular always comes to mind, Phet from Laos, a mother of two who didn't have access to teachers with a high English level. She spent three months with me, reading, EVERY SINGLE DAY, so that she could help educate her two children. Seeing her transformation from barely being able to articulate any English word, to an intermediate level in such a short time frame will forever bring me tears of joy. Plus, to all Bengalis who spent their time and dedication to help me learn Bengali. Especially you, Taseen, everyone knows you well and you deserve a special price for your effort that you not only gave to me, but to everyone else that came across your path.
