Lately I’ve been reminding myself of something simple but important: only give people the energy they give you.If someone is kind, respectful, and supportive, match that energy. If someone is distant, cold, or inconsistent, don’t overextend yourself. It’s not about being rude or petty, it’s about balance. Protecting your own peace means not pouring too much into connections that aren’t mutual.
Late night thoughts.I’ve had really decent convos online, met folks I probably wouldn’t bump into in real life. It’s wild how someone you met in a comment thread or a DM can end up being a genuine part of your day.But at the same time, I get how easy it is to misread tone, to ghost, to only show the curated, polished version of ourselves. Sometimes people don’t treat online interactions like they matter, or they forget there’s a real person on the other end of the screen.Truth is, I’ve been the person left hanging in a conversation numerous times, and it doesn’t feel great. Maybe that’s why I treat online interactions with care as much as I can, because I’ve felt that sting, and I wouldn’t want to put anyone else through it.We’re all just people trying to connect, even if it’s online.
Why am I into Korean culture?A Korean friend once asked me this, and it made me realize how much Korean people have shaped my life. Growing up, my childhood best friend was Korean, and her warm, welcoming family left a strong impression on me. Later on, I had a few more close Korean friends at university, and even had a decade long relationship with one. Their personalities, values, and how they treated me all made a strong impression. That’s probably why Korean culture means so much to me now.
Tonight, while driving to get dinner, I witnessed a car run a red light and crash into the car in front of me. I stopped and did what I could as a nurse to help the driver. He was in shock but thankfully uninjured. Police and ambulance arrived quickly to secure the scene and provide support. It was a stark reminder of how fast things can change on the road. Stay alert and drive safe, everyone.🙏
