The Importance of Self-Respect and Self-Love One of the most valuable lessons in life is learning to respect and love yourself. Too often, we depend on others’ opinions to measure our worth. Who praises us, who ignores us, who treats us well—these thoughts take away our peace. But true strength lies in how we see ourselves. Self-respect does not mean arrogance; it means dignity. If someone underestimates you, it does not reduce your value. Your true identity comes from the goodness and abilities within you. Loving yourself does not mean denying your flaws, but embracing them. Look in the mirror, smile, and say: “MashaAllah, I am beautiful.” This creates positive energy and reminds you that no matter how hard the world is, there is always peace within. Waiting for others’ approval only brings disappointment, because not everyone will appreciate you. But when you value your own efforts, no criticism can break you. Tell yourself: “I tried, and my effort matters.” That simple reminder can boost your confidence more than any praise. When you respect and love yourself, life becomes lighter. Problems don’t feel overwhelming, and your heart stays calm. If you neglect yourself, others will too. But when you honor yourself, people are bound to respect you. Life is short and given only once. Do not waste it by breaking yourself with others’ words. Instead, enjoy your smile every day and strengthen your love for yourself. Say to your heart: “MashaAllah, I am one of the best creations of Allah.” When you believe this, peace flows from within, and that inner peace is the truest happiness.
